Though the use of blood type in forensic investigation is not enough to prove guilt, it may aid in exonerating potential suspect. The Proof Plane is a device for transferring charge from a charged object. Charge a plastic strip by rubbing with a cloth. Touch the charged object with the proof plane. Charge will be shared between the object and the Proof Plane so both will have the same charge sign. Show this using the E-Field Detector (EL220000) If you are using a Faraday’s Pail touch the inside of the Pail with the charged Proof Plane. Charge will be transferred and immediately move to the outside of the Pail. If the process is repeated equal amounts of charge will be transferred each time. If the Proof Plane is charged by induction the charge sign will be opposite and usually greater than by simple charge sharing. Show these effects using the E-Field Detector.

The Earth Grounding Plate is designed for use with The Lascells E-Field Detector but can also be used in any situation where an earthed working surface is required to neutralise electrostatic charge. Place the Grounding Plate on the bench with the E-Field Detector on top. Using the detector Earth Lead connect the green Earth socket on the detector to the metal screw on the grounding plate. Use a connecting lead to also connect from the green Earth socket to a suitable Earth point such as a metal water pipe or similar.

The Charge Separation Rods are designed for use with the Lascells E-Field Detector (EL220000). Arrange the rods so that they are touching along an axis. Bring a charged object near one end of the rods and use a pencil or similar to slide the rods apart touching only the feet and not the metal part of the rods. When the charged object is removed test the charge on the two separated rods. If the charged object is negative, electrons are repelled to the rod furthest away leaving the rod closest to the object positively charged. By moving the rods apart the electrons cannot return so the furthest has an overall negative charge and the nearest an equivalent positive charge.

These Pooters are designed not to be perfectly round so that bugs will find a crevice to hide in and are easier to observe. The jar contains two holes; one of which has a fine mesh covering to prevent bugs being drawn into the mouth. Two lengths of tubing (removable for easy washing) are supplied.

Use in conjunction with an accurate millisecond timer to calculate acceleration due to gravity. The timer starts when the ball bearing is released from the release unit, the base has an integral vibration sensor which stops the clock as the ball bearing hits the impact plate. Replace the ball bearing, reset the timer and the unit is ready to go again. When used with Lascells timers or other models with de-bounced inputs no additional power is required. The Lascells Millisecond Timer is a fully functional, easy to use millisecond timer and has a clear, 4 digit LED display. Three sockets provide START and STOP inputs which respond to any change of switch settings i.e. normally closed to open or vice versa making triggering very simple and reliable. A single switch changes the timer from GATE 1 start and stop to GATE 1 start GATE 2 stop. In addition 3.5 mm sockets are provided to allow Lascells timer light gates to be connected. The timer has millisecond resolution for times up to 10 seconds and then the display auto-ranges for longer periods up to 9999s with corresponding reduced resolution.
