The food calorimeter offers superior method of measuring the energy in foodstuff, compared to burning it under boiling tube of water. The enclosed vessel and copper tube ensure that more of the food's energy is used to heat up the water, and less heat is lost to the environment, increasing the accuracy of the experiment. The unit comprises glass jacket with bell jar inside. spiral copper tube draws air through the bell jar, in which food is burning, transferring more of the heat to the water.
