This two way bench mounted gas tap features drop levers in yellow, allowing you to quickly identify if any taps have been left in the 'on' position. The anti-rotation pin secures the tap from rotating on the surface underneath. An installation template is provided with each tap for a precise fit. This GM Tube & Holder has been designed to work directly with the IPC Timer Scaler & Frequency Meter but can also be used with any other suitable Scaler unit. The GM Tube contained within this stand-alone holder is the industry standard type: ZP1481, as recommended in the Cleapss document GL:138 (Choosing a Geiger Muller Tube). The ZP1481 has a large area detection window making it suitable for all practical demonstrations and investigations as well as having an efficiency level suitable for detecting alpha, beta and gamma radiation, it is also robust and has a long life. The holder containing the GM Tube not only provides both protection and a choice of connections to the Tube, but also the option to attach the holder to a retort stand using the supplied fixing rod. Also contained within the Holder is a high ohmic value (4M7) series resistor required by most Counter and Ratemeter (Scaler) units. If required the protection grill covering the detection window can be removed should you want to detect low levels of contamination. This model comes with a TNC plug.

This laser emits an intense monochromatic red beam of wavelength 630 nm at 0.9 mW (Class II operation). Typical beam divergence is approximately 1 millirad. The laser is ideal for the demonstration of the behaviour of light in a visually effective way, reinforcing the practical work carried out by pupils using white light. It is an essential tool to develop basic understanding of the passage of light through different media, slits etc. The laser beam can be modulated by applying an external digital or analogue waveform to the 3.5 mm jack socket on the rear panel. Alternatively, the beam can be modulated by the internal generator which produces 0.1 µs pulses at approximately 1 MHz. This allows speed of light experiments to be easily performed. The passage of light through light guides and optical fibres can be demonstrated by filling a glass or plastic tube or U-tube with very dilute milk. The growth of laser-based communication systems and research into the use of lasers in computers of the future make this an essential piece of equipment to bring up-to-date relevance into teaching. The laser is powered by a 6LR61 (PP3) battery or external smoothed and regulated supply, has adjustable focus, no warm-up time and has a key operated safety switch. This gold leaf electroscope is great for hands on experience with electrostatic principles in physics classrooms and labs.
