This kit allows you to build an economic mains powered lamp that takes power from a standard 5V micro USB phone charger (not included). The kit comprises a very bright 1W Power LED which connects (with the cable provided) to a PCB that has a power switch, micro USB connector and power resistor. All that is required to assemble the kit is to connect the LED to the desired length of cable and solder the resistor to the board.
Take power from a PC with this handy USB lead. The lead is 1m long and has pre tinned red and black wires which connect to the 5V pins on the USB plug. The USB standard allows peripherals to draw 100mA each, which is enough to power an LED or most simple circuits.

The FM radio kit offers fantastic reception quality and outputs 1W of power. It uses industrial surface mount ICs which are mounted on the board. You just have to solder the remaining resistors, capacitors and other components to finish the kit. The radio has controls for tuning and to adjust the volume. The circuit includes an audio amplifier and output is via a 66mm diameter speaker. The board can be powered from a 2.5V to 5.5V supply and works nicely off a 5V wall supply or 3x AA batteries. An optional FM radio telescopic aerial is also available.
The BC548B and BC639 are low cost alternatives to the BC108 and BFY51/2N3053 respectively. They match specification of the originalsalmost exactly. The pinouts are different but they can be made to fit existing circuits by bending the legs.
A photoconductive cadmium sulphide LDR housed in TO-18 package 4.5mm dia. Cell resistance 20KW at 10 lux, 5KW at 100 lux. Dark resistance minimum 20MW Max dissipation 50mW, maximum voltage 100V dc.
Build a computer desk lamp or ornament using this simple board. The board takes power from a USB port and the light can be turned on/off with the on board switch.
A team of students design and build their own gravity racer, which as the name suggests, has no engine so is the ultimate in green racing. The team decides how they run the project, incorporating aspects such as the planning, design, materials, research, events and PR. There are a number of events which teams can enter and there is a National Technical Specification that all UK racers must be built to enter most events in the UK. With Formula Gravity, we are helping to inspire and train this generation with a fuel free racing environment to help tackle the green issues of today. What can Formula Gravity do? • Increase the number of students choosing engineering, science and technology subjects, apprenticeships and courses • Raise young people's creativity, expectations and aspirations • Develop key skills • Facilitate greater school to business interaction • Enrich curricula • Improve achievement Download further information the advantages of the Formula Gravity project from the 'Reosurces' tab. We are working with a broad spectrum of education, from universities to middle schools with the project highlighting engineering in schools and colleges with particular emphasis on the automotive industry. The project is handed over to schools as a whole school task, from the fund raising and power point presentations to the design, build and race. Students can be involved as much or as little as they like giving an overall experience of running a race team. All aspects of an engineering project can be done by the school. Get involved with Formula Gravity and inspire your students to become the engineers of tomorrow.
